Poker Reviews Vegas FAQ
Permalink

1. What's the deal with PokerReviewsVegas?
The deal is, we're a community of poker players who want to share with each other our experiences in Vegas Poker Rooms. PokerReviewsVegas website gives poker players who have either been to Las Vegas or about to go to Las Vegas, a place to hang out, read, write, about their opinions of the Poker Rooms in Vegas.

2. How did PokerReviewsVegas start?
The PokerReviewsVegas website was the beginnings of an idea from a group of a few poker friends who went to visit Vegas at the beginning of 2006.

Having tried to search for a good quality, well organized, comprehensive site that could straight off tell poker players where they could get a good game of poker, we found scattered resources.

3. What kind of information can I get at PokerReviewsVegas?
You will get honest opinions from our Editorial review of the poker rooms in vegas, ratings from poker players who have visited Vegas and played in the rooms, tournament schedules, and latest news or upcoming events.

4. What kind of features are at PokerReviewsVegas?
What makes PokerReviewsVegas unique from other review websites is the users ability to choose their own weightings of the rating categories we have. So if the competition is what matters to you most, you can find the overall score of a poker room calculated with competition heavily weighted or if comps is more important to you then that...You simply type in your preferred %age weightings, press enter and voila! The overall scores reflect your preferred weightings.

5. Does it cost me anything to use this website?
This website is a FREE resource to anyone who wants to visit it, we hope that you will visit often and contribute. In fact, you get a free token of appreciation if you right a report. You get an even bigger free token if you write more than 4 reports.

6. Why do you ask for a "real" or private email address?
When a person signs up as a PokerReviewsVegas member, we require a real and valid email address, one we hope you'll be keeping for a while. We need this for several reasons:

* to send a confirmation email to you
* to send you notifications (if you select them in your edit member profile page), and
* to contact you in case you've won something.

We recognize people are wary of providing their real email addresses when signing up for things, so we also ask you to provide a public email address (optional) which will be displayed to all on your profile page.

But the real, private email address we also ask you for? The private one truly is private, and will never be displayed on the website, sold, catalogued, or otherwise used in any way. We completely respect peoples' wishes to keep their real and daily email addresses private. Spam is a huge problem (our senior editor gets about 1,800 a day these days) and we don't want to contribute any more to that than already exists.

7. Why do you ask for my real first and last name?

We'll be brutally honest with you here.

Forcing people to supply real names, and a real address (and an email confirmation system before your membership is active) serves one purpose real well, and no, it's not to collect information to sell to anyone.

It makes for a better community.

It's a proven fact. If people have to submit their real names, real email addresses, and other personal information, they tend to post more intelligently, with less "flaming" than they would if the forums and website allowed anonymous posting.

We have other reasons too - and again, no, we're not cataloging your names and contact info to sell to some marketing company (read our Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policies to see how serious we are about protecting your info). Some of the other reasons include niceties like publishing a real person's name when they write a consumer review. We made the design and philisophical decision to attach a real name to any reviews that are written. Whether real or not, a "real name" attached to a review lends credibility to those reviews

We also use your first name and or your last name in certain templates, email feedback systems etc to give it that more "personal" touch, even though it's all automated. :) Hey, perception is reality sometimes.
