I was playing $1/2 NL and I get pocket 9s on the big blind and 3 other callers limp in for a total of $8 in the pot.
A 5 Hearts, 8 Diamonds, King Clubs flops.
I'm first to bet and decided to bet the pot at $8 on my mid pair and see if that will scare everyone. If someone calls, I figure they probably have the King or a Pair of eights. Only 1 person calls and heads up (the pot is now $24) and we see the turn.
A 5 of diamonds comes up and I really don't think the guy called my $8 for a pair of fives. He bets another $8, so I call him. The river is a 9 hearts. That makes me full house full of nines, the nut full house. I bet $16 (that's about 40% of the pot) and he reraises me another $24 on top of that. Now there's $80 in the pot.
I should've just called him, but I put him on trip 5s now that he was betting so heavy so I thought I'd suck him in of his money, I figure nothing can beat my full house so I go over the top and reraise him another $80 which put him all-in.
He flips over pocket 5s to show quads beating my full house nines. And I lose.
That's a tough beat and does happen, I think you were right to put him all in for the amounts you had but you didn't have the nut full house, pocket kings also beat you. I still would have played the same way that you did, though.
yeah i was just playing full tilt. had pocket 9s and called blind. flop came 2 9 4. i was like great, trip 9s! two spades on the board. one guy bets 200 and both fold, i call. flop is 4 of spades. full house! im pumped, i hope he got his flush. he bets out 325, i call. rive is a 4. the way my luck was going i knw it. he went all in, i called, and he had a Q4. I'm done playing poker for awhile.
to make matters worse the tourney before that I had ak and bet. flop was 2 K 9. i bet out big, guy calls all in with a A 7. turn 7, river 7. poker is an evil evil game. lost about 750 bucks in two weeks.
